I’m not a natural runner. My stride is short and choppy. My legs are short and thick and distances bore me.  I do, however, enjoy a short run.. 3-5 miles. It takes me a while for my body to warm up especially after lifting. But 5 minutes in when my body is warm, I hit my stride, and my music is playing, I feel a sense of zen.. The runner’s high.  That moment when I find my rhythem and my breathing is in synch with my stride, I am truly racing against myself. It is me vs. me. I challange myself to beat my last time if only by one second.
As anything in life you need to change it up.  Adding a weekly run will help my endurance and let’s me focus on nothing but music and rhythem.  So today I ran 3.5miles then I pumped and now I feel peaceful.. Content.  Worked. Blissfully at rest. Ready for tomorrow and the weekend to come.

Running does symbolize life especially for me because it challenges me and not something I usually chose to do unless it served a greater purpose. But running has helped me reach goals.. Finishing, I mean running,  a half marathon, completing Spartan races and all the distances in between. Focusing on becoming stronger and healthier has allowed me to become so much more than I thought I could be and it started with me training for the Rutget’s half marathon 2 years ago. My first goal achieved. That led me to wanting to achieve a new goal, my Les Mills Body Pump certification. Just wanted to see if I could do it. Today I not only am certified in Body Pump but CXWORX as well. I am an official Les Mills group X instructor who will be teaching my own classes in 3 weeks.  Running led me to find a passion I was longing for. Helped me cultivate a  strong body and disciplined mind..and in its circuitous way led me to lifting. Lifting makes me feel bad ass, strong, confident and sexy. Yes sexy. I love the way my body looks. ..Strong, muscular, healthy!

i I would prefer to lift any day but I know that my body needs rest.. So today I ran! 💪👊🎶
